IRAQ: "WAS THIS NECESSARY?"

Of course it wasn't necessary, as long as we were willing to live with:
- Continued large scale U.S. military commitment to the area.
- Thousand of sensless murders, rapes, and jailings by the Iraqi leadership of its citizens.
- Constant concern about the state of the Iraqi WMD programs, about which we would not have conclusive intelligence as to their disposition.
- Concerns about the very dangerous terrorists Saddam Huessein was harboring in country, what they were plotting, who they were meeting with, finances, their agenda, etc.
- And of course, the ongoing military and security threat the country remained to its neighbors in the region.

Other than that, obviously the war wasn't "necessary" (but time may well tell us that it was "wise".)
